Class 3 Topics and Homework
Please see details below regarding our class.
Weekly homework is now posted on Class Dojo.
Please find/contact Mr Cooper in good time if there are any issues regarding homework:
Spellings and Big Maths
Spellings are taught in short-burst sessions in school time. Children will be expected to practise any 'tricky' words from these sessions at home. These will be noted in children's spelling log books.
Children are expected to practise the weekly Big Maths focus at home, as well as at school, and track their own learning through each 'progression drive' (these will be provided) for each skill or area of the Big Maths scheme. Children will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their week's learning in class and Mr Cooper will track children's progress too. Please contact Mr Cooper if you have any questions relating to Big Maths or if you would like any guidance on how you can support your child with this scheme.
Class 3's curriculum follows the National Curriculum for Years 4-6, with aspects of earlier/later years taught (where appropriate), to allow for depth/breadth/mastery of learning. Of course, all three year groups' curricula cannot be taught in a single year, therefore the learning is organised through a topic-based approach. These topics run on a 3-year cycle and sometimes reflect national/local events, as well as the interests/needs of the children or the class structure (e.g. In 2015/16 this class contained only Year 5/6). The long-term plans for the previous four years demonstrate this. If you would like anymore information on Class 3's curriculum, please contact Mr Cooper: email@example.com
